Pullip dolls were created in 2003 by the Korean company Chunsang Chunha and marketed by JUN Planning of Japan. Although they’ve been available in Japan for some time they have only recently hit the shores of the United States.
Pullip dolls have a very strong urban Japanese style and they evoke the very popular Blythe dolls as well.
The Pullip stands about 12" tall (30cm) and is distinguished by her over-sized head and eyes and a highly poseable body designed with 30 points of articulation. Another unique feature is the eye mechanism that allows the eyes to move back and forth, and wink, using levers on the back of the head. Each doll comes with a unique outfit and accessories, and later dolls have trading cards and a stand.
