NEW!Here comes the second member of the beloved Steiff Vintage Series on its soft felt paws. Its pattern, colouring and the materials are based on its "bearish" predecessor from days gone by. This characteristic Teddy bear made of blue mohair has an exciting story to tell. The predecessor and original was "born" in 1908 and travelled to England to the famous Harrods department store. The buyer back in those days was not enthusiastic about this bearish fellow's flamboyant fur. However, it was precisely that conspicuous fur that made the Steiff Teddy bear world famous in 1993. At an auction at Christie's, this bear created quite a sensation and found a new owner at an amazing price of 49,500 English pounds. This new, beautifully-crafted replica of the original bear stuffed with wood wool will charm you with its vintage look that was achieved in painstakingly-precise handcraft through partially thinning the mohair and subtle airbrushing and makes the bear appear naturally older. It looks as if it has already been cuddled and stroked by many loving hands. Yet this congenial bear knows how to turn people's heads not only with its bright blue fur but also with its growler and friendly expression from its big, black boot-button eyes. This Teddy bear proudly "bears" the 1908 black and white replica ear tag as well as the "underscored button" made of patinated steel. It has been produced as part of a limited edition of 1,908 pieces according to the original's year of birth.
