This highly sought-after Alfonzo Bear is a replica of a Steiff 1908 bear which was produced in 1990 as a shop exclusive for Teddy Bears of Whitney. He is made of red mohair plush filled with "excelsior" wood shavings and is dressed in Cossack suit. He stands 35 cm (13 inches) high and is complete with original box and certificate. The acetate lid has a few small dings and is taped at two corners.

The original Alfonzo was produced by Steiff in 1908 and belonged to Princess Xenia Georgievna, second cousin to Tsar Nicholas II. He was probably given to her by her father, George Michailovich, Grand Duke of Russia. In 1989 this 13 inch red Teddy was sold by a direct descendant of Princess Xenia at Christie's in London for a record high price.
